The
Thompson Approved Basketball Officials is a non-profit organization established in 2006,
by former students and graduates of the School for Officiating and Advanced Refereeing (SOAR).
We are the Board 299 of the International Association
of Approved Basketball Association (IAABO)
TABO is dedicated to
providing experienced and quality referees to schools, recreational leagues, commercial leagues and colleges. The locations
are mainly in, but not limited to, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas.
Our referees were mostly graduates of the School for Officiating and Advanced
Refereeing (SOAR), the only refereeing school in the country under the International Basketball Academy (IBA), and were trained by Mr. Jesse Thompson
himself.
Former National Basketball Association (NBA) referee Jesse Thompson
is the Mentor/ Technical Director of Thompson Approved Basketball
Officials (TABO). Highlights of his career as an official include over ten (10)
years of officiating in the NBA, eight (8) years in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), and twelve
(12) years in the United States Basketball League (USBL). He is known
to have officiated Michael Jordan’s First NBA game. Jesse also has experience
officiating internationally, spending six (6) seasons in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). He also served as a consultant in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) for the 2005 season.
